Taxi Service Mauritius began as a simple father-and-son journey to build a better future for our family.
My father, Mr Anil Mohoonee, started working as a taxi driver in Mauritius in 1967. For him, driving was never just about transportation. It was about meeting people, sharing stories about the island, and offering visitors the warm hospitality Mauritius is famous for. Over the years, he built a reputation for kindness, reliability, and professionalism, making travelers feel welcome from the moment they stepped into his car.
In the early 2000s, while I was studying internet technologies, my father had a small idea that would later change everything. He asked me if I could create a simple website for his taxi service so he could find more customers online and continue supporting our family while helping finance my studies and those of my sister.
That small project became the beginning of something much bigger.
From a Small Website to a Growing Company
The first website we built together was very simple. But slowly, travelers from around the world began discovering it. Emails started arriving. Bookings followed.
Little by little, that small family project started to grow.
With time, dedication, and a strong focus on customer satisfaction, the website evolved into a registered tour operator company. Today, Taxi Service Mauritius by Travelhub operates a fleet of more than 40 vehicles across the island, serving travelers from every corner of the world.
After completing my studies, I continued managing the website alongside my full-time job. As the demand increased, I eventually made the decision to leave my job and dedicate myself fully to developing Taxi Service Mauritius.
That decision allowed the company to grow into what it is today.
